Il Castello di Roscialesco in Umbria, Italy
The Castello di Roscialesco is a complex of medieval buildings, the remnants of a fortified village that thrived more than 700 years ago. It has its place in history, but today it is a place of reflection, a lingering reminder of memories long ago forgotten. The buildings that remain, especially the old watchtower, are relics of a past age, when independent city states vied for dominion over the Umbrian countryside in Italy.

History
While its origins are murky, the area in and around the castle was inhabited from the pre-classical period, and the castle itself saw many different owners and events over the years, including several battles. It is situated along the Tiber River, and is a place that for thousands of years was the frontier between regional powers, whether that was ancient italic tribes or city states in the medieval period. The castle was registered in 2005 as an important cultural asset pursuant to article 33 of the L.R. n. 11/05, paragraph 5.
